Former Clinton Advisors Join Fray Over “The Path to 9/11″

First the moonbats started going crazy over the docudrama to be aired by ABC and now key members of Clinton’s administration have joined the fray writing letters to Disney, the parent company of ABC. I have not seen the liberals this worked up since they were ‘robbed’ of the 2000 Presidential election. The left are working themselves into a frenzy over this miniseries, which according to the Path to 9/11 website, faults both sides for their failure to stop this attack.

ABC’s upcoming miniseries “The Path to 9/11″ is generating a firestorm among members of the Clinton administration, who claim the two-part, made-for-TV film is filled with factual errors and lies.

Three members of the administration — former Secretary of State Madeleine K. Albright, former National Security Adviser Samuel R. Berger and Clinton aide Bruce Lindsey, who now heads the Clinton Foundation — have sent letters to Walt Disney Company, parent of ABC, demanding that it re-edit or pull the five-hour film, scheduled for air Sunday and Monday nights without commercial interruption.

The ever angry left is spewing so much venom and foaming at the mouth because of the ‘lies’ in this docudrama when they did not see anything wrong with the hugely inaccurate Reagan movie. It is just a matter of time before these moonbats bring up CBS’s capitulation on the mini-series on Ronald Reagan in 2003. CBS decided to pull the movie when Republicans and the Reagan family alike objected to the movie, noting the mini-series was more of a hit job than a docudrama. Unlike the CBS movie, ABC seems to be trying to ride the fence on who is really at fault when it comes to the most horrific attack on American soil since Pearl Harbor.

From press reports both Republicans and Democrats alike are likely to see problems in this film which depicts Bill Clinton as overly concerned about a certain intern in the White House rather than national issues like terrorism.

Lindsey and Douglas Band, a top lawyer in Clinton’s office, objected to advertisements for the miniseries, which they said suggested that Clinton wasn’t paying enough attention to the threat of terrorism. (snip)

The former Clinton officials reportedly are outraged that producers wrote into the film a sequence that strongly infers the president was preoccupied with the Monica Lewinsky affair instead of focusing on the threat from Usama bin Laden and Al Qaeda. Lindsey’s letter to Iger reportedly points out that the 9/11 Commission — which [Thomas] Kean co-chaired — actually stated that Clinton was “deeply concerned about bin Laden,” and that he received constant updates from administration intelligence and security officials.

I don’t see how anyone can say Bill Clinton was concerned about terrorism when his response to repeated attacks by al-Qaeda was to launch a few cruise missiles which did nothing but blow up a tent and an aspirin factory. To even suggest one of Bill Clinton’s top priorities was terrorism is laughable. Both his actions and inactions in the White House are indefensible. This does not leave President Bush blameless though most of the fault still lies at the feet of Bill Clinton.

It should also be pointed out that ABC had a paid consultant for the movie in 9/11 Commission co-Chair Thomas Kean. Surely if there were significant aspects of the docudrama which are not correct, he would have objected to them. Too much drama in a docudrama turns the movie into a work of fiction. As a paid consultant, Kean’s reputation is on the line.

And now it looks like ABC has folded. They are now going to place warnings in the docudrama saying that certain scenes were made up though Kean still defends it.

Kean defended the miniseries, saying that like the 9/11 Commission Report, it was balanced.

“People in both administrations are not going to be happy if it’s portrayed accurately,” he told the Times.

Isn’t that the truth. The big difference is in the responses of the Republicans and Democrats. Republicans can handle the truth while the Democrats can not. Republicans will take their mistakes and learn from them. The Democrats will take their mistakes and blame them on someone else. This movie is all about the reaction of each side. The Republicans seem to have learned from their mistakes and have taken the fight to our enemies. The Democrats have learned one thing: obstruct and deny, obstruct and deny. Both sides could learn from their mistakes, only Democrats don’t make any. Don’t believe me, then ask them. They will tell you it was some else’s fault.

And it seems I am being nice to Bill. Doc at American Traditionalist says:

The uproar and whinning by Clinton just proves what a cowardly lying wimp we all know he is. Just like a child caught in a lie and having the truth told about it. They whine and cry foul when their fake image is painted for what it really is.

Isn’t that the truth. Stay tuned for more.

The Path to 9/11, ABC’s New Movie Makes the Left Go Ballistic

Are High School Coaches Paid Too Much?

I just love the way the Associated Press uses a misleading title of an article and the first part of the story to totally mislead their reading audience.  The AP conducted a study of Texas’ High Schools using the Texas Information Act to find out what the state’s highest paid coaches were paid compared to teachers.

Football coaches at schools in the state’s two largest classifications average $21,404 more in salary than teachers, slightly less than they did 10 years ago, the Austin American-Statesman reported Sunday following an examination of public records.

The Statesman reviewed the salaries for the 2005-06 school year from schools in Classes 5A and 4A through documents obtained under the Texas Public Information Act. The findings were very similar to a similar study done by The Associated Press in 1996, using records from the 1995-96 school year.

The latest numbers show coaches making an average of $73,804, compared to $42,400 for teachers.

You have to dig way down into the article to find facts left out of the beginning which would make a difference to the readers.  First is the fact that the study only evaluated Head Coaching jobs, and does not included their assistant coaches.  Second, they leave out the fact that some teachers make more money than the head coach makes at the same high school.

The Statesman reviewed the total compensation paid to the head football coaches and salaries of their highest-paid teachers, high school principals and superintendents for all school districts with schools in 4A and 5A. To be classified in 4A or above, schools had to have at least 950 students; that covered 461 schools. There were 428 schools in 4A and 5A during the AP review. (snip)

In Houston, the district’s highest-paid teacher makes $95,191 — far more than the $76,913 drawn by the district’s top-paid coach, Tom Nolan of Houston Lamar.

And finally the kicker is near the bottom of the article which includes how many days a year each is paid and how many hours a week a coach works.  This sounds more like a joke than anything else.

Coaches receive a base salary, plus a coaching stipend that ranges from $1,000 to the $35,000 paid to Dodge. Their contracts usually are based on a 226-day work year, while teachers’ contracts are based on a 187-day year. It’s common for football coaches to log 70 to 100 per week during the season, including time on Saturdays and Sundays, compared to 40 to 70 per week for teachers.

As a former coach I can tell you that coaches work far more than 226 days a year and I worked a heck of a lot more than 70to 100 hours a week.  As an assistant football coach at a 4A High School, I worked seven days a week from 2-3 weeks from the start of school and through most holidays until the end of football season.  As an assistant coach I had other sports to coach like basketball and sometimes baseball.  There was no such thing as Spring break or Christmas break.  Summers were filled with football camps, coaching camps, weight rooms to open and other such duties.  During football season my day started at 0700 in the morning and ended at 1900 on practice days.  Three days a week we played football: varsity, junior varsity, and freshmen squads.  On game days, the day ended when all the equipment was stored, students gone and films broken down.  Saturday started at 0800 and ended at 1800.  Sundays started at 1400 and ended at 2100-2200.  This did not include preparing for classes and grading papers.  Coaching involves a lot of long days and long hours.

This is not complaining.  I could not wait to go to work and did not want to go home—I loved my job.  But there was not one teacher at my school who wanted to trade hours with me.  Their day started at 0800 and ended at 1600 on weekdays.  Then there is the issue of job security.  Teachers only have to teach to keep their jobs—coaches have to win games to keep theirs.

I was a highly paid assistant coach.  Once I tried to figure out how much I was making per hour while working after school while coaching.  I was making a whopping 50 cents an hour.  What the school did not know was I would have worked as a coach for nothing.

What I find disturbing about the article is how misleading it is.  Sure coaches make more money than teachers, but a winning coach will bring in paying fans.  The schools make a lot of money from winning sports.  Good Head Coaches are worth every dime their paid.  They bring in money, prestige, and good teachers.  Most coaches are in the business because they love their jobs, while many teachers are just going through the motions with their jobs.

So I wonder, did the writers had an agenda or did they just conduct poor research.  If the AP writers were doing their research, they would know the hours coaches work and what they bring to their school.

Plane Crash in Lexington Kentucky May Have Been Pilot Error

If the initial reason of the crash of ComAir Flight 5191 is correct, it is indeed tragic since the plane did not have a chance. According to Fox News, early reports indicated the jet was attempting to take off from the wrong runway.

A commuter jet crashed during take off early Sunday and burst into flames, killing 49 people and leaving the lone survivor in critical condition. Investigators were trying to determine if the plane was on the wrong runway and ran out of pavement.

AOPA’s Airport Directory (2005-2005 edition) shows Lexington, Kentucky only has one airport and that airport only has two runways. Runway 4-22 is 7003 feet long while runway 8-26 is only 3500 feet long. For the plane to crash, the pilot either tried to take off on runway 8-26 which is far too short or he was trying to take off with the wind on runway 4-22. Either one would be termed as taking off from the wrong runway and both would have devastating consequences. Again I say, if the initial reports are correct because all of this is pure conjecture. For the pilot to take off with the wind on a controlled airport such as Lexington would be a tremendous mistake on the part of both the tower and the pilot. Therefore this probability is doubtful. Another possible and much more likely possibility is the combination of poor visibility and confusion on the part of the pilot. The two runways cross and with a lack of visibility, the pilot may have become confused and accidentally lined up on the shorter runway 8-26 rather than the longer 4-22. With the lack of visibility, he may not have noticed the runway was too short until it was too late to abort takeoff.

Again I say, this is just speculation, and all of this speculation is dependent on the accuracy of the initial reports coming from Fox News. My thoughts and prayers go to the families on this plane.

Update:  Further review of AOPA’s Flight Directory shows that if the pilot did take off from the wrong runway as reported, then he really missed all the clues.  Runway 6-22 is 150 feet wide while 8-26 is only half as wide.  This is easily noticeable.  And second, every airport I have ever flown into, the runways are clearly marked.  Not only did the pilot miss the clues, but so did the co-pilot.  Somebody messed up bigtime.

Louisiana Bus Driver Assigns Back Row Seats to Black Children

Every time I think we as a nation of individual races and ethnicities are just about to put away our differences, something like this happens.

A Louisiana school district suspended a white bus driver while it investigates complaints that she ordered nine black children to sit at the back of the bus.

I hope this is not true and is just a hoax, but I am afraid that it is not.  Weeks and months go by without any word of racial differences in our great country and then boom, here comes a story which seems to suggest there are still bigoted people out there.  All something like this does is to give ammunition to ‘civil rights’ leaders like Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson to push their racist agenda.  Just a few short weeks ago it was the Duke rape where three LaCross players were charged with raping a black stripper.  The news was all in the media until contrary evidence revealed that the case seemed to be failing apart.  With little physical evidence to try this case, the rape charge was motivated in large part by an ambitious D.A. eager to use a weak case to further his political life.  The media for their part are always ready to show just how far we have to go in becoming a color-blind society.  The true of the matter is that we will never become the utopian society they want as long as there are those who have something to gain by promoting divisiveness.  Let’s face it, what would Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton have to do if everyone got along.  They profit by promoting divisions among the people.

So far, I have yet to hear why the driver of the school bus would do such an asinine thing as segregating the kids in this manor.  But be sure, both Jackson and Sharpton will make an appearance if they feel they can use this story to their advantage.

Shenanigans Over at Google

What is happening over at Google? After receiving a tip from my brother, I googled the word “failure” and came up with some of the usual stuff, Failure Magazine, the movie ‘Failure to Launch,’ heart failure and others. But the very first entry is concerning our President. Michael Moore is listed number 4. I don’t understand that either.

George W. Bush

Biography of the 43rd President of the United States.

What does his White House biography have to do with failure? I don’t know what determines how different items are listed, but this looks mighty suspicious to me. Does anyone know?

Update: A reader directed me to this website by Google which tells how certain people have manipulated the system by a practice called googlebombing.  Now I know.

This List Will Make Anyone Over the Age of 25 Feel Old

I am feeling old.  I just read through Beloit College’s Mindset List which features a list of things kids graduating in 2010 take for granted.  Some of my favorites include:

1. The Soviet Union has never existed and therefore is about as scary as the student union.

6. There has always been only one Germany.

7. They have never heard anyone actually “ring it up” on a cash register.

9. A stained blue dress is as famous to their generation as a third-rate burglary was to their parents’.

14. The Moral Majority has never needed an organization.

15. They have never had to distinguish between the St. Louis Cardinals baseball and football teams.

19. “Google” has always been a verb.

20. Text messaging is their email.

23. Bar codes have always been on everything, from library cards and snail mail to retail items.

24. Madden has always been a game, not a Superbowl-winning coach.

27. There has never been a “skyhook” in the NBA.

36. They have rarely mailed anything using a stamp.

56. They have never put their money in a “Savings & Loan.”

63. Television stations have never concluded the broadcast day with the national anthem.

75. Professional athletes have always competed in the Olympics.

Now, not only do I feel old, I am depressed too.  How things have changed!

Spike Lee’s New Fiction on HBO, Hurricane Katrina

Spike Lee has a new film coming out, this time a documentary called, “When the Levees Broke: A Requiem in Four Acts.”  Since exploding on the scene 20 years ago, Lee has directed forty different movies all sporting an African-American focus.  But now Mr. Lee has turned his attention and his conspiracy ideas onto the catastrophe when Hurricane Katrina swamped New Orleans.

Using current and historical footage, music and more than 100 interviews, the film reminds viewers that although Katrina shattered the entire Gulf Coast, New Orleans and its mostly black residents got hit especially hard. Thousands fought to survive deadly floodwaters for days while federal help was slow in coming. Many are left today with a nearly ruined city and broken hearts.

Lee conducted each of the interviews, and viewers occasionally hear him asking questions, but he never steps in front of the camera. There is no narrator telling viewers that New Orleans was abandoned, or that this may have happened because most residents are black. There is no need.  (emphasis added by TRS)

You have got to be kidding me?!  The hurricane did not just pick on one race of people.  There were a whole host of people hurt by this storm including Whites, Hispanics and Blacks.  Nobody seems to remember that one of the first areas flooded was the mostly white area of St. Bernard.  For anyone to even suggest that the federal response was slow because mostly blacks were affected is indeed delusional.

The reasons for the devastation are many.  Nobody was ready for a storm of this magnitude.  Coupled with that was incompetence at all levels of government, with most of the accusations of incompetence has been rightly directed at the city and state levels.  Right Wing Nut House has a comprehensive timeline of the hurricane and its aftermath.

There is nothing wrong with Spike Lee making a documentary on the disaster and devastation in New Orleans, but if he is going to make a documentary, he needs to start with some semblance of the truth.  It is near to the point where you can not trust a documentary anymore.  Michael Moore had his fake story and now Spike has his.

Lee claims he lets the people he interviews tell the story of New Orleans, but only a complete idiot would believe the film maker did not lead the hatred in the movie.  Some talk about how the levees were bombed to kill blacks and others say the feds did nothing to kill many more.  The end result is the same, Spike Lee has directed a fictional movie under the guise of a documentary.

For now, he’s spending little time pondering his 20-year milestone. “What I’m trying to do is just get better,” he said. “Become a better storyteller. That’s what I do.”

Maybe Spike Lee should keep to the storytelling and leave the documentaries to those who can tell the story without bias, who can tell the truth without stretching the truth, who can tell of the remarkable heroism of the people of New Orleans without demeaning their sacrifice.  All in all, it’s the same old Spike, full of hate for white people.

Wal-Mart Fights Back

Wal-Mart has been the center of much discussion of late, particularly in the Connecticut Democratic Senate Primary between Joe Lieberman and Ned Lamont as both sides tried to out-Wal-Mart each other.  Lamont accused Lieberman’s of acceptance of a $1000 donation as a good reason not to vote for the incumbent Senator.  Lieberman on the other hand denounced Lamont’s ownership Wal-Mart stock as a reason not to vote for the challenger.  Since when has Wal-Mart become the whipping boy?  Maybe the retail giant attracted the attention of the left by supporting so many issues relating to the right side of politics.

First, WalMart is a ‘Right to Work’ company, an open shop. WalMart sees little need for unions, but neither do employees.

Second, WalMart’s political donations favor the Grand Old Party.

Third, Corporate WalMart is Pro-life.

Fourth, WalMart makes money, lots of money. WalMart sales are the largest in the world at $220 billion, with $7 billion in profits. And liberals and governments want a say in how all this loot is distributed.

Fifth, WalMart is heartless to competitors. It is the All-American retail marketing-machine: big, patriotic, delivering goods to families faster, better, cheaper. And . . .crushing little mom and pop boutiques. Survival of the cheapest, so to say, isn’t pretty. (This is the only Darwinism the Left doesn’t like.)

WalMart has whipped up the perfect storm for the Liberal worldview: generous, pro-life, pro-Bush, pro-war, pro-American.

The left has been relentless in their attacks on the retail giant and with the Presidential Primaries just around the corner, Wal-Mart has decided to go on the offensive.

Wal-Mart Stores is hitting back at some leading Democratic presidential hopefuls who have joined with the company’s critics recently.

The world’s largest retailer announced it is sending out what it terms a “voter education guide” to its 18,000 Iowa employees, criticizing politicians who have recently joined with the union-backed group “Wake Up Wal-Mart” for a series of rallies. Iowa holds the nation’s first presidential caucus, and potential candidates are already visiting the state.

“We believe it’s wrong for these political candidates to attack Wal-Mart and the transformation under way at our company,” the letter said. “We would never suggest to you how to vote, but we have an obligation to tell you when politicians are saying something about your company that isn’t true.”

In Wal-Mart’s letter to its employees, it notes that Presidential wantabes Indiana Senator Evan Bayh, Delaware Senator Joseph Biden, New Mexico Governor Bill Richardson and Iowa Governor Vilsack of are taking part in some of these anti-Wal-Mart rallies.  Don’t they know that Wal-Mart’s success of is reflection of the American dream and its ideals?  If they were truly honest, very businessman or woman who opens up their very first store would say they dream of one day expanding their business across the world like Wal-Mart.  Most people seem to understand this fact, so why don’t the left wing liberals?

Liberals hate Wal-Mart because of its success.  The company under the tutelage of owner Sam Walton, grew from one store into 6,556 stores with over 2 million employees worldwide as of May 4, 2006.  He succeeded where many failed by offering lower prices and by focusing on the consumer.

There is something these politicians (Democrats) and liberals do not seem to realize, people like Wal-Mart.  Consumers like the variety goods offered by the discount stores, the friendly associates, and even like the low prices.  By attacking everyone’s favorite retail store, these politicians may invoke the wrath of the electorate.  Since the ones attacking are Democrats, the current battle against Wal-Mart will only help Republicans.

Will Raul Give the Reins of Power Back to Fidel?

As a former high school coach I have many times seen an injured starting player lose his position permanently to his replacement.  Its not that the injured player can’t return, its that his replacement begins to shine making changing back unnecessary.  I wonder if this is also going on in Cuba as Raul replaces Fidel.

Cuba’s Communist leadership launched a campaign today emphasizing the revolutionary roots of Fidel Castro’s brother and designated successor, attempting to reassure Cubans that the regime remains stable after the leader’s hospitalization. (snip)

“We Cubans are prepared for the defense … and Raul is there firmly at the helm of the nation, of the Revolutionary Armed Forces,” the Communist Party newspaper Granma said.

If Fidel Castro takes too long to recover, brother Raul may decide he likes being the leader.  After all, there is no honor among thieves.

As a side note it seems the people of Cuba are not the only ones who are ‘upset’ over Fidel Castro’s health.  The left, who have always been a fan of the ‘revolution,’ are always ready to discuss the joys of living under the communist dictator.  As if they would know.  A simple search on Google will turn up all kinds of people who have nothing but good things to say about this dictator, ie, Steven Spielberg, Dan Rather, Janeane Garofalo, and others.  Betsy’s Page has pretty much nailed the reason why the left loves Fidel.

All that Fidel has going for him really is his opposition to the United States. Deep down that seems to be what the left likes about him - that they can use their praise of him as a stick to beat up on this country and on capitalism. You would have thought that the battle between communism and capitalism was over and the victor was clear, but it seems that there are still some pockets here in the US where it rages on.

I never realized it was that simple, but she is probably right.  The left hates America, Castro hates America, it’s a match made in heaven.

BBC Parody is Sick

These people are sick. BBC has a ‘comedy’ called “Time Trumpet” which features “Terrorism Awards.” In this ‘parody’ they show airlines crashing into Parliament, a suicide bombing in Israel, and the assassination of Tony Blair. None of these are funny, not even a little bit.

“The clips have to be seen in the context of the whole series,” said a BBC spokeswoman. The show begins on BBC2 this Thursday, with the terrorism episode scheduled for week three. “It is a satire. The scenarios are so ludicrous that anyone who complained would be making a fool of themselves.”

I guess the BBC would think marching Israelis off to gas chambers would be funny too. I would imagine they would also consider seeing American soldiers killed at the Normandy Invasion funny. I don’t consider any of these worthy of a parody, its too close to what actually happened.

What more, they can not be trusted to tell the truth. You think Dan Rather is biased, the BBC is CBS on steroids. They are ultra liberal and seem to love Islam, even when, or maybe I should say, especially when, when Islamic terrorists kill people. I do not understand why the BBC is still around other than the money they collect in taxes every year from each and every household who owns a TV.

The BBC, in some prehistoric media logic, is supported by a tax paid by every British household that owns one or more televisions. This compulsory tax, paid by the rich as well as the poor, arrives every year as a bill for £116 ($183). If you don’t pay it (and only 7 percent fail to pay it), the BBC can put you in jail. The tax, which like all taxes is always going up, raises as much as £2.5 billion for the BBC every year (and because there are always more households, every year it raises more). Since the BBC itself collects it, nobody in government can reapportion it or redistribute it—the BBC, unlike every other public-broadcasting system in the world, is not only well funded but well protected from politicians.

Can you imagine what this country would be like if CBS had a virtual monopoly on the news and collected taxes from all TV owners to pay for their biased vitriol? With this virtual monopoly, the BBC can say and do just about anything they want, even to the point of being extremely insensitive to victims of terrorism.
