Sarah Palin Wins Big
The debate heard around the world. Sarah Palin was great as she nailed Joe Biden again and again on substantive points and even getting in the occasional zinger. The debate started well for Palin. I knew she would do well when she asked Biden before the debate began if she could call him Joe. That showed she was relaxed and her answers throughout the contest illustrated that fact.
Joseph Biden on the other hand was out of his element. His over emphasis on smiles and laughter when he disagreed with Palin showed his discomfort. And then there were the sighs. I would have though the Senator would have learned the lessons of Al Gore from the 2000 debate with George W. Bush. Right!? Overall, Biden sounded smug, haughty, and a bit condescending in his conduct.
Gov. Palin acquitted herself well in these debates. The awkwardness of her performance with Katie Couric left many conservatives wondering if she were ready for the big stage, though I also have to acknowledge John at Powerline notes, Biden absolutely mangled the job definition of the Vice President as listed in the Constitution. He even messed up which article of the Constitution the job of the Vice President is listed. For someone has been through their high school government class, his performance would have been embarrassing, for someone who took government in college, such a remark would be a disgrace, for someone who has been in the Senate for thirty plus years, his remark is truly appalling. I guess time in the Senate does not make anyone smarter. Go figure.
There are some other things which gave me trouble. One was the same thing Barack Obama had trouble with in his debate with John McCain—Obama’s willingness to sit down with Kim Jong Il of He did support the Hamas elections. And then National Review Online has some Big Ones including the resturant near Home Depot that Biden reportedly frequents.
