Speaker of the House, Nancy Pelosi? NO!!!!

Speaker of the House, Nancy Pelosi?  It that what Texas really wants, because a vote for Democrat Chet Edwards may lead to that eventuality.  Pelosi wants to be Speaker so bad she can taste it.  She is already crowing about what she will do in the first 100 hours of being elected Speaker after winning a Democratic majority in the House of Representatives.

The first thing Pelosi said she would do is to ‘drain the swamp.”

House Democratic leader Nancy Pelosi is thinking 100 hours, time enough, she says, to begin to “drain the swamp” after more than a decade of Republican rule.

As in the first 100 hours the House meets after Democrats _ in her fondest wish _ win control in the Nov. 7 midterm elections and Pelosi takes the gavel as the first Madam Speaker in history.

Day One: Put new rules in place to “break the link between lobbyists and legislation.”

I agree with this rule, but it will make a lot of Democrats unhappy.

Day Two: Enact all the recommendations made by the commission that investigated the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11, 2001.

Doubtful any meaningful legislation could be passed in 100 hours.  Most of the recommendations have already been passed.  The only reason for talking about enacting the 9/11 Commission recommendations is trying to show the American public that Democrats are trying to protect the United States.  Never mind the fact that the Democrats have voted against the Patriot Act, have voted against the Warrantless Wiretapping of known terrorists, have voted to close down the Gitmo Detention Center, and have continuously sided with the terrorists against our own troops.  We can not trust the cut-and-run Democrats to protect the United States from terrorists.

Time remaining until 100 hours: Raise the minimum wage to $7.25 an hour, maybe in one step. (snip)

All the days after that: “Pay as you go,” meaning no increasing the deficit, whether the issue is middle class tax relief, health care or some other priority.

To do that, she said, Bush-era tax cuts would have to be rolled back for those above “a certain level.” She mentioned annual incomes of $250,000 or $300,000 a year and higher, and said tax rates for those individuals might revert to those of the Clinton era. Details will have to be worked out, she emphasized.

Pelosi wants to raise taxes and increase the minimum wage.  As a small business owner, both of these would devastate my business.  Both would inhibit my ability to hire more laborers.  Both would have the effect of taking money out of the economy.  As a result my business would slow down and I would pass less in taxes.  I would also have to release some of my laborers.  Other business would be hurt the same way.  So much for the Democrats helping the economy.

Sure, income taxes revenue would go sky high…at first.  As the economy ground to a halt, more people would be out of work and fewer taxes would be paid.  It does not take an economic genius to see this simple fact.  Taxes take money out of the economy.  With less money in the economy, businesses have to lay people off.

“We believe in the marketplace,” Pelosi said of Democrats, then drew a contrast with Republicans. “They have only rewarded wealth, not work.”

“We must share the benefits of our wealth” beyond the privileged few, she added.

This is Nancy Pelosi trying out a new slogan.  Both of my parents were Democrats until the Party took a sharp turn to the left.  As a result I grew up with slogans.   That is all the Democrats can promise—more slogans.

The only thing the Democrats can promise and hold on to those promises is to raise taxes and give it to those who pay nothing in taxes.  They can promise to raise the minimum wage by taking it from those who have initiative to start their own businesses.  Pelosi in effect is trying to buy the votes of the poor.  ‘Elect more Democrats and you will have to work even less.’  This plan is not democracy, its socialism.

For the Democrats to win the House, they must pick up fifteen seats.

On the Mark Foley issue, Nancy Pelosi is as partisan as they come.  When Dennis Hastert asked her to join him in a joint statement asking the FBI to look into the page program, she declined on purely partisan grounds.

Instead, she wants to put Hastert and other Republicans under oath and make them say what they knew of Foley’s actions, when they learned it and what they did to stop him.

The potential for political gain is clear to her.

I am sure it is.  I would agree to putting Republicans under oath to find out what they knew and when as long as Democrats are held to the same standard.  This is one thing I am sure Pelosi will not agree to do.  She wants a narrow investigation focused totally on the Republicans and their leadership.  The fact that the whole issue of Mark Foley’s inappropriate behavior was lead on by a prank by an 18 year old makes no difference at all to the would-be Speaker.  The fact that Democrats have engaged in worse behavior makes no difference either.  (See this post for more details)  Pelosi is focused on one thing, winning the Democratic majority in the House by any means necessary, fair or foul.

Chet may run around the state of Texas claiming he is a conservative, but his record shows that he is a liberal of the Pelosi kind.  He is way too liberal for central Texas.

A vote for Chet Edwards is a vote for Nancy Pelosi as Speaker of the House of Representatives.  We can do without her first 100 hours as Speaker.

One Response to “Speaker of the House, Nancy Pelosi? NO!!!!”

  1. I FEAR the first 100 hours of Democrat rule … here’s why

raising the minimum wage will destroy small businesses and kill the already thriving economy

they’re beating a dead horse when it comes to Iraq. We’re there because Iraq could’ve become the next North Korea. We’re there because we’d rather fight the terrorists abroad than on our home soil. Leaving now just increases our chances of another homeland attack.

they will open the door to cloning by approving more stem cell research

they will roll back the middle class tax cuts which will destroy the thriving economy

in the first 100 hours of democratic rule, they will tank the economy and also make America prone to terrorist attacks by rolling back our national security
