The UN Seeks to Tax the US
The United Nations is made up of Democrats. That is a logical conclusion since this organization under the tutelage of Kofi Annon, wants to tax the rich nations and give the money to poor nations. Let’s see, where have I heard this theme before? Oh yeah, I remember. The Democrats want to tax the rich and give the money to the poor.
… For example, UN types have already begun discussing levies on energy purchases, carbon emissions, international corporate activity and currency transactions. The last of these alone is estimated to be capable of generating a mind-boggling $13 trillion per year!
The purposes towards which such funds might be applied include development assistance, humanitarian relief, peacekeeping operations, raising and maintaining a UN army and underwriting for the international institutions that will be charged with administering these funds. Some advocates even explicitly propose international taxes as a means of redistributing wealth from the developed to the developing world. (emphasis added by TRS)
Frank Gaffney has written a great article on this latest scheme by the UN, including more on the man who seems to be leading the charge for America to join in and start paying their ‘globotaxes.’ This man is none other than former President Bill Clinton. A true Democrat in action.
There are several problems with these taxes. First is that the taxes are owed by the American people who have virtually no say in how the money is taxed or spent. Second is that the ‘agreed’ upon tax of the American economy is supposed to be 0.7%. (George Bush disputes this amount) And third is that this country can hardly afford to pay almost one percent of our gross national product to the UN. Assuming our economy continues to grow approximately three percent per year, this country will pay the UN over 924 million dollars by the year 2015. Of course that is including nine years of a growing economy along with nine years of paying the United Nations. Kofi Annan is already saying the US owes the UN money.
Talk about destroying the US economy. These globotaxes would put a tremendous strain on the US economy while allowing the UN to reward third world countries for their ‘good behavior.’ Considering the history of this world organization during the failed ‘oil for food’ program while Saddam Hussein ruled Iraq, the UN can hardly be trust to run this program very well either.
The UN is made up of many countries who hate America because of her wealth. The US is the envy of the world. This country gained its wealth because of its free markets and democracy. These other countries could have wealth too, if they opened up their markets and gave democracy a try. Why should American’s hard earned money go towards supporting two-bit dictators around the world?
Any US Senator or Representative who supports this UN initiative would find themselves out of a job real quick. If Hillary Clinton is not careful to distance herself from her husband on this issue, it will hang around her neck for the nation to see. And then she can kiss her presidential aspirations goodbye.
