Left Under a Conspiracy Alert

In the leftosphere, Bush Derangement Syndrome is still alive and well.  This country has been threatened with a 9/11 attacks and all the the left can discuss is its the same old mantra, Bush is evil.  The lefty moonbats can not be trusted with the defense of the United States, ever.  Even when this country is under a terror alert, wacky moonbats see a conspiracy.  How can the left equate this terror alert with Joe Lieberman’s loss in Connecticut?  If anyone can figure that out, let me know.

Bush just invoked a Code Red terrorist emergency, our first ever.

And isn’t it queer that the emergency is declared within a day of Republican party leader Ken Mehlman launching an all-out offensive against Democrats following Joe Lieberman’s loss in Connecticut, an offensive in which Mehlman, the White House and Republican operatives are claiming that Democrats no longer care about national security or the war on terror.

And just at that moment we get our FIRST ever red alert. Beam me up, Scotty.

Do I sound as if I don’t believe this alert? Why, yes, that would be correct. I just don’t believe it. Read the article. They say the plot had an “Al Qaeda footprint.” Ooh, are you scared yet? What that really means is that they found NO evidence whatsoever that the plot had anything to do at all with Al Qaeda, but the plot simply made them think “gosh, this is something Al Qaeda would do.” That’s what a footprint means. Nice, but no cigar.

Were these guys totally innocent? Probably not. But there’s no reason to believe they were any more Osama’s right-hand than Jose Padilla, the famed dirty-bomber who I think is now only being charged with jay-walking or something. Then there were the famous six Muslim-American guys in New York state, supposedly operating their own al Qaeda cell. Not so much. Or how about the Al Qaeda cell in Florida trying to blow up the Sears Tower? Oh that’s right, they were just some demented friends squatting in a warehouse and “thinking” about it. And then there’s the famous plot to blow up the Brooklyn Bridge - with a single blow torch.

Bottom line: Joe Lieberbush lost. The message is spreading across the land that incumbents who embrace the president are in serious trouble. And the Republicans needed to divert attention, to stop this meme in its tracks, and lo’ and behold we have our first terror alert that I can recall since the last election, and it’s our first ever Red Alert! What a coincidence!

Wacky, wacky, wacky.

The left just can not accept the fact that this country is continually threatened by Islamofascists.  They want to kill us, period.  The point at which these moonbats figure this out, we will either all be dead or under Muslim rule.  Therefore we can not allow them to win any major elections.

Mike Wallace Describes Interview with Iranian President as “Memorable”

What is it about terrorists that so enthralls CBS and the rest of the MSM?  Dan Rather said the time he spent with Fidel Castro was the most exciting time in his life.  Dan interviewed Saddam Hussein and enjoyed his time with the dictator describing him as honest and intriguing.  And now Mike Wallace’s interview with Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmaddinejad was one of his most memorable?

Twenty-seven years after a chilling sit-down with Ayatollah Khomeini that was one of Mike Wallace’s most memorable, the CBS newsman snagged an interview this week with current Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad in Teheran. (snip)

Of Ahmadinejad, Wallace said, “He’s an impressive fellow, this guy. He really is. He’s obviously smart as hell.”

Wallace said he was surprised to find that the Iranian president was still a college professor who taught a graduate-level course.

“You’ll find him an interesting man,” he said. “I expected more of a firebrand. I don’t think he has the slightest doubt about how he feels … about the American administration and the Zionist state. He comes across as more rational than I had expected.”  (emphasis added by TRS)

Now he is quoting Ahmaddinejad, calling Israel the ‘Zionist state.”  It is truly embarrassing when a formerly ‘respected’ news correspondent gushes all over a terrorist who is the leader of a terrorist nation.  How quickly the MSM forgets all of the terrorist acts Iran has been involved in, especially those against the United States.

I still remember the 444 days Iran, and Ahmaddinejad, held our embassy people hostage.  I still remember the suicide car bomb which killed 241 Marines on a peacekeeping mission in Lebanon.  The attack was committed by Hezbollah with the help of Iran.  I remember the Army Colonel who was kidnapped and tortured to death by Hezbollah with the help of the Iranians.  But none of this seems to bother Mike Wallace.

With the way Wallace gushing all over him, I just hope the Iranian President brought a towel to dry himself off.  For his part, I would bet Ahmeddinejad was happy too.  He just received a softball interview with a reporter who loves and admires him.  It is really despicable when our news media can not be Americans first and interviewers second.

MI-5 Foil Terrorist Plot to Blow Up Airplanes. Is This the Work of Iran?

Just when we thought it was safe to fly again, here comes news of another terrorist plot using airlines as flying bombs.

A MAJOR plot to commit “mass murder on an unimaginable scale” by blowing up several flights from the UK in mid-air has been foiled, Scotland Yard has said.

Senior sources said terrorists were believed to be planning to blow up as many as nine aircraft in a simultaneous attack. Police believe that the plot involved liquid chemical devices. The targets were flights leaving UK airports to the US.

According to reports, most of the arrested suspects were British citizens, but were also of Pakistani origin.  Big surprise there.  Officials also point out that this plot seems to have been hatched by al-Qaeda, the same terrorist group who attacked the US on 9/11.

This plot is eerily reminiscent of the foiled Bojinka terrorist plot which was to blow up eleven airliners in January of 1995.  These terrorist organizations are always on the lookout for ideas which have a large showing like the attacks on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon.

There is another twist to this plot.  It seems the plot was well into its advanced stage, but not imminent.  Administration officials say they did not think this group would wait until the anniversary of September 11 to set the plan into motion.  So that makes me wonder about the comments made by the Iranian President who hold the reins of many terrorist groups.

In Islam, as in Judaism and Christianity, there are certain beliefs concerning the cosmic struggle at the end of time—Gog and Magog, anti-Christ, Armageddon, and for Shiite Muslims, the long awaited return of the Hidden Imam, ending in the final victory of the forces of good over evil, however these may be defined. Mr. Ahmadinejad and his followers clearly believe that this time is now, and that the terminal struggle has already begun and is indeed well advanced. It may even have a date, indicated by several references by the Iranian president to giving his final answer to the U.S. about nuclear development by Aug. 22. This was at first reported as “by the end of August,” but Mr. Ahmadinejad’s statement was more precise.

What is the significance of Aug. 22? This year, Aug. 22 corresponds, in the Islamic calendar, to the 27th day of the month of Rajab of the year 1427. This, by tradition, is the night when many Muslims commemorate the night flight of the prophet Muhammad on the winged horse Buraq, first to “the farthest mosque,” usually identified with Jerusalem, and then to heaven and back (c.f., Koran XVII.1). This might well be deemed an appropriate date for the apocalyptic ending of Israel and if necessary of the world. It is far from certain that Mr. Ahmadinejad plans any such cataclysmic events precisely for Aug. 22. But it would be wise to bear the possibility in mind.

The west has been thinking Ahmadinejad was talking about his country displaying evidence of their nuclear arsenal on August 22, but what if what he was really hinting at was another major terror attack like the one thwarted by MI-5.  In this case the Iranian leader is really showing his hand for the world to see.  It would show Ahmadinejad wants us to know he was involved.  Either the Iranian President was talking about something else entirely, or he is incredibly stupid.  He saw what the US did to Afghanistan shortly after the September 11 attacks.  Doesn’t he know President Bush would not hesitate to respond to him the same way?  Unless he thinks we are stretched too thin with troops in both Afghanistan and Iraq.  Surely he knows we would respond and forcefully.

Both Ahmadinejad and the Iranian mullahs seem to want to force an Armageddon, bringing forth the new mullah who would conquer the world.  In an earlier post I quoted an NRO piece by Barbara Lerner in which she describes some of the thought processes of these mullahs and the significance of August 22.

Today, Iran’s emboldened mullahs are on a triumphant roll, waging a bloody, three-front proxy war against us, using the Mahdi army to assassinate dreams of peace and democracy in Iraq, using Hezbollah to blow up those same dreams in Lebanon, again, and using Hamas to make a grotesque mockery of them in the Holy Land. Now they threaten to activate Hezbollah terror cells, here in America and throughout the world, to kill and maim us at home and inflict more carnage on our allies. This week, they mocked our efforts to prevent them from becoming a nuclear power, announcing that nothing we do — in the U.N. or elsewhere — will stop them from going nuclear, and sharing their WMDs with other rogue states and Islamofascist terror groups at will. More ominous yet, they threaten to unleash an apocalyptic surprise on us on August 22, the night they believe Mohammed lit up the skies by ascending to heaven from the Al Aqsa mosque in Jerusalem.

While this may not have been what Ahmadinejad was referencing, it does make me wonder, what if it was.  And if it was, what should be our response to Iran?  Iran is a dangerous country who has been engaged in a pseudo war with us for years.  How long do we put up with their terror, their wars, and their nuclear ambitions?  It time the US responded.
