Find This in the MSM

This news release from CentCom is a couple of days old, but a couple of facts make for some interesting discussion.

Coalition forces killed one suspected al-Qaeda in Iraq terrorist and detained seven others during a raid in the vicinity of Mudaysis July 2.

Intelligence led the troops to the known location of a terrorist who has been tied to senior leaders of a Syrian-based foreign terrorist network.  This particular al-Qaeda in Iraq terrorist cell is also known to facilitate suicide bombing operations throughout the Euphrates River Valley.

Upon assaulting the initial target building, one suspect fled an adjacent tent.  He joined another suspected terrorist and attempted to hide in a nearby sheep herd.  Coalition forces pursued them, engaging and killing one, detaining the other.  Coalition forces detained three suspected terrorists in total from this tent.

One of the detained terrorists led the Coalition Forces to two cache sites near their compound.   Multiple grenades, several AK-47s, multiple sniper rifles, an RPK, additional small arms, and two vehicles used to facilitate terrorist operations were destroyed on location.

Security forces detained three additional suspects as they attempted to flee from the separate near-by target building.  A fourth detainee was apprehended as he approached the target building with weapons in his hands.

The Coalition assault was targeting the same al-Qaeda in Iraq terrorist network responsible for killing over 65 innocent Iraqi Sunni and Shiite men, women, and children in a car bombing in Baghdad Saturday.  These types of al-Qaeda attacks commonly target innocent Iraqis with the goal of destabilizing the Iraqi government as it continues its progress towards peace and prosperity.

Several women and children were present at the raid sites.  None were harmed and all were returned to their homes once the troops ensured the area was secure.  (emphasis added by TRS)

The terrorists being pursued were the ones responsible for the deaths of 65 people in Iraq in a car bombing and had ties to the Syrian-based foreign terrorist network.  This is not what I would call an insurgency.  It sounds too much like foreign interference.  In spite of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad continued denials to the contrary, there is a heavy Syrian influence in Iraq.

The second interesting fact in this news release was concerning the raid on the terrorists by Coalition forces which took place among women and children.  These terrorists could care less about these innocents.  They are merely human shields to protect the terrorists should an American or Coalition assault force attack.  These terrorists are evil people.  Anyone who will hides behind the skirts of women and little children are evil and they are cowards.

The MSM for their part whitewash the role of the terrorists involved in this bombing telling only of the number of dead and dying.  After reading several newspaper articles, not once did the word “terrorist” or “terror” appear.  Robert H. Reid in writing for the AP even took pains to avoid mentioning “jihad” when quoting Osama bin Laden in his message endorsing al-Zarqawi’s successor.

In his Internet statement, bin Laden endorsed Abu Hamza al-Muhajer, named by the terror network as al-Zarqawi’s successor, and urged him to step up “the struggle” in Iraq. (emphasis added by TRS)

Reid changed the words of the message substituting in the phrase “the struggle” for “jihad.”  The MSM can not even be trusted to quote a bad guy correctly.

At the end of the article the author goes on in a very small part talking about the seven who are accused of raping and killing an Iraqi woman and her family.  There is nothing wrong with telling this story in the broader context of the war.  But look at the permalink title: http://www.boston.com/news/world/middleeast/articles/2006/07/01/ gis_eyed_in_alleged_rape_murders_in_iraq/.  (emphasis added by TRS)  Reid has to get in one more little dig when 90% of his article is about the car bombing.

The news of the Syrian involvement in Iraq and the terrorist cowards hiding behind women and children is not something you will likely see in the MSM.  They are too interested in disclosing national intelligence secrets, bashing our troops and the President to tell what is really happening in Iraq.  In spite of a few setbacks, we are wining the war on terror in Iraq.  And that is something the MSM will never admit.
