First Aggie Scheduled For Space

NASA has a new Space Shuttle crew. What makes this one so different? It includes the first graduate from my alma mater, Texas A&M University. (Whoop!)

Mission specialist Michael Fossum

Age: 48

Hometown: Born in Sioux Falls, S.D., but grew up in McAllen, Texas

Family: Married, four children

Fossum is about to be the first Aggie in space.

The Texas A&M graduate plans to bring to the space station a university flag which he will bring back for his alma mater. But he may want to hide it from fellow crew mate Stephanie Wilson, who went to graduate school at the University of Texas. (sssssssss!) (Sorry, I could not help myself)

I could not find when they will launch in space, but it will be neat to finally have an aggie in space. It is worth noting the paper says this will be the first Aggie in space and goes on to mention that Wilson is a former longhorn. Just goes to show you can be a former anything other than a former marine and a former aggie.

Traitors at New York Times Reveal More Secrets

Why does this not surprise me? The New York Times releases classified material…again! This comes on the heels of another release of classified material which I blogged about earlier, found here.

The top American commander in Iraq has drafted a plan that projects sharp reductions in the United States military presence there by the end of 2007, with the first cuts coming this September, American officials say.

According to a classified briefing at the Pentagon this week by the commander, Gen. George W. Casey Jr., the number of American combat brigades in Iraq is projected to decrease to 5 or 6 from the current level of 14 by December 2007. (snip)

General Casey’s briefing has remained a closely held secret, and it was described by American officials who agreed to discuss the details only on condition of anonymity. Word of the plan comes after a week in which the American troop presence in Iraq was stridently debated in Congress, with Democratic initiatives to force troop withdrawals defeated in the Senate.

When the New York Times releases this kind of information, I wonder who they are working for. I know the Times has fallen on hard times lately, but to sell out to al-Queda and Usama bin Ladden. Its time for the US to get serious and prosecute these types of disclosures. If you throw people in jail for releasing sensitive material, they will stop doing it.

Beth at Viva La Blog seems to be as irritated as I am at the NYT.

Another leak so soon?
It looks like the Old Grey Lady is determined to prove she is above the law. And perhaps, has declared her own war against the administration of the United States.
They are publishing classified information on troops levels. This is really out of hand!

But the Muslim Question I believe has the best quote and picture of the day.

Benedict Arnold, Ethel and Julius Rosenberg, Ted Kazinski, and Timothy McVeigh (among others) would be mighty proud if they were still around to watch you guys work your traitorous magic.

Hat tip: Michelle Malkin

Right on target. When people can’t tell the difference between Al-Jazeera and the New York Times, there is a problem.
