Silence of the Left

This morning the blogosphere is abuzz with the news of the beheading of two of America’s finest.  Republicans in mass are condemning the torture of these two men.  But I have one question.  Why is it is that only Republicans seem to be outraged?  Where is the famous anger of the left?  The left’s attention is where it always is, too focused on the ‘wrongs’ of the US to pay attention to the torture of American soldiers.  Besides, the left always blames our soldiers for everything.  My Republican Blog takes the Democrats to task for their silence.

What upsets me the most about this situation is the deafening silence from the Democratic leadership within our government. Where is their photo op condemning the actions of these terrorists? Where is their sound bite declaring the terrorists to be abominable? During the Abu Ghraib scandal, Senator Kennedy plainly stated that Saddam’s torture chambers had not been closed; just reopened under new management (meaning us). Senator Kerry accused our military of “terrorizing” women and children at night. Senator Durbin accused the guards at Guantanamo of being Nazis and worse than the Pol Pot regime. Representative Murtha leveled accusations of our troops being cold blooded murderers, before an ongoing investigation could be concluded. Where are the indignant outcries of these leaders today condemning the barbaric behavior of the “freedom fighters”? Where is the call for these “insurgents” to abide by the Geneva Accords? Where is the demand that terrorists do everything possible to limit collateral damage? The silence, Senators Kennedy, Kerry, Durbin and Representative Murtha, is absolutely deafening.

When the Democrats and the left consider America as the enemy of freedom in the world, what can you expect?  Kennedy has always blamed America first.  Kerry, the war ‘hero,’ blames our soldiers first, calling them terrorists.  And Murtha, a decorated Marine, calls our troops, murderers.

The only thing the Democrats want to discuss is how to cut-and-run from Iraq.  I believe the cut-and-run Democrats will soon talk about these two soldiers, but instead of calling them heroes, the Dems will use their deaths to call for the US to pull out of Iraq.  The left has no shame.  I searched the kos kids and found nothing on the deaths of these two brave men.  Big surprise there, not!

Beheading of Soldiers Make War Personal

Word coming out of Iraq is that the two missing soldiers, Pfc. Kristian Menchaca and Pfc. Thomas Tucker, were beheaded, thus the need for DNA testing.  Ever since the death of Abu al-Zarqawi, the new al-Queda leader in Iraq, Abu Hamza al-Juhjir, has been trying to make a name for himself, this time by personally beheading these two American soldiers.  He may have made a larger splash than he wanted.

I predicted two years ago that if terrorists in Iraq started beheading American military captives,

… the terrorists will learn something else: they have made the war personal. When that happens, the American experience of war shows that our troops will shed the veneer of restraint like a snake’s skin. And for every American head Zarqawi severs, he will soon find three of his own men’s heads.

That kind of retribution by US troops has happened before; read the post for more information.

It is one thing to fight and see your friends and fellow soldiers die beside you.  It is quite another to see what these animals did to these soldier’s tortured bodies.  It does get personal.  Americans in the past have used their anger to not only defeat, but to humiliate their enemies.  I do not condone torturing captured terrorists, but I will predict that the torture and beheading of two of our soldiers will result in our military capturing even  fewer terrorists than before.  I figure most of the terrorists and insurgents will die while ‘battling’ against our soldiers.  These animals better hope they don’t capture and behead any of our Marines.  Marines are known for their long memories.

WMDs Found in Iraq, Left Could Care Less

For three years we have been told by the left that ‘Bush lied, people died.’  One of the lies these people say President Bush told was Saddam Hussein had weapons of mass destruction.  Where are the WMDs, they ask.  Since we can’t find them, then Bush lied.  We sent troops to Iraq for a lie and on and on they go.  Turns out according to the Director of National Intelligence, John Negroponte,

…since 2003 Coalition forces have recovered approximately 500 weapons munitions which contain degraded mustard or sarin nerve agent.

So George Bush did not lie.  Don’t expect to hear this news in the MSM since this new information is beneficial to the President.

The question is why isn’t the White House pushing this news?  Both Democrats and the left have been hammering away at the President on the lack of WMDs in Iraq.  And now that we have evidence of their existence, we hear nothing from the President.

In a way I can understand Bush’s position.  We are already in Iraq, it doesn’t matter how we got there as long as we finish the job.  But I still think this information needs a little push.  The Dems will cry about the move being political, but they have politicized the whole issue of the US being in Iraq for the last three years.

What does the left have to say about this breaking news, they are in denial.  The tin-hat kos kids are all over the map on this one, from the WMDs were planted to the WMDs were worthless.  Big surprise there.

No great surprise that the Rubber Stamp Republicans are absolutely shameless. But this from Santorum really takes the cake. (snip)

Congressman Hoekstra and I are here today to say that we have found weapons of mass destruction in Iraq, chemical weapons…. Since 2003, coalition forces have recovered approximately 500 weapons munitions which contain degraded mustard or sarin nerve agent. Despite many efforts to locate and destroy Iraq’s pre-Gulf War chemical munitions, filled and unfilled pre-Gulf War chemical munitions are assessed to still exist.

“We”? Did Santorum and Hoekstra do what teams of UN weapons inspectors and the Iraq Survey Group couldn’t? (snip)

Total denial.  Others agree with me on the WMD issue.  Brian Dufala at Rational Conservative says

To be clear, let’s not make any claims here that these are nuclear warheads or anything like that.  Obviously, the gravest concern with Iraq was that they were developing nuclear weapons.  While it seems certain that the desire was there by Saddam, Iraq was not at that point.  And yet, it is also clear that there were weapons in Iraq that were in fact WMD’s and were in fact against the sanctions.  Thus, despite the efforts of the Democrats to hide the truth about Iraq, there have been and still are WMD’s in Iraq.

True, so true.  People, particularly the media, seem to forget Saddam violated 14 UN resolutions some of which dealt with the WMD issue.  He also violated the terms of the armistice ended the fighting in the 1991 Persian Gulf War.

Taking Back North Dakota says the liberal establishment still doesn’t care that we found WMDs in Iraq.

This pretty much debunks the “Bush lied!” crowd. I’m not surprised by this. I’ve been saying that the search for WMDs is far from over pretty much since the liberals declared that there was without a doubt no weapons. Really, anyone who’s followed this debate and this story should know that we have been finding a lot of these types of munitions. Don’t expect the media to follow this story, either.

Dan at Necessary Roughness cuts to the heart of the matter.  Where is the MSM in this story?

If this is true, then I either have a newfound respect for the government’s ability to cover up or a new low in respect for major media. The media is everywhere. They should have found it and reported it if they were true journalists. Did they choose not to report it because it supposedly supports Republicans?

Hmmmm.  It makes me wonder too, Dan.

Saying What Needs Saying

Beth at Blue Star Chronicles has a great post on her feelings on the war and the torture and killing of these two fine soldiers.  I think she along with many of us are tired of the left constantly caving in to these terrorists.  Tire of the cut-and-run Democrats.  Tired of those who blame our military first.  Be sure to read the rest of the post, its great.

I saw one of the president’s advisors on TV tonight saying something to the effect that we are more civilized than the enemy and therefore more is expected of us. He said putting our Soldiers on trial for murder will show the world that we hold them to a higher standard.

That’s all well and good, but lets not use these Soldiers to prove a point.

That’s not the message we need to send.

The unrest in this country is the intense anger the people are feeling.

We are tired of being blamed for everything that is wrong in the world.

We are tired of being at war and not fighting the war.

We are tired of our Soldiers being put in harms way with their hands tied and with instructions to be sensitive to the enemy.

We don’t WANT sensitive Soldiers! We want Soldiers who are good Soldiers.

We are tired of the core democratic leaders spinning everything using sophomoric debate tactics to shut up any opposition.

We are tired of hearing the liberals give sympathy to muslim jihadists while finding fault with America, Americans and American Soldiers.

We are tired of hearing about Israel bombing Palestine while Palestine gets a pass on the horrors they commit.

We are tired of being chastised for mohammad cartoons while Jesus in Urine is praised as an object d’art.

We are tired of communists and socialists judging everything we do and say and trying to overtake our country.

We are tired of hearing from celebrities who think their fame and wealth translates into a superior understanding of world politics and warfare.

We don’t want the President apologizing for talking tough!

WE WANT A TOUGH PRESIDENT. We want the President to maintain the tough posture he had in the aftermath of 9/11.

The President needs to speak up and send a very clear message to the world. Tell the world that we will not be passive victims. We will not tolerate the continued mistreatment of our Soldiers.

What was done to those boys was an act of war in itself.

We need to send a clear message to the world that we will not tolerate this and there will be a reckoning.

Unleash the dogs of war and let it be done.
