John Murtha is a Disgrace
John Murtha is at it again, accusing our troops fighting in Iraq of murder. I with wish he would just shut up. I find that many others are of the same opinion. OpenVoice says “its sad to see senile old men like this get elected over and over again.” Scipio the Metalcon says “Rep. John Murtha began his John Kerry impression.”
It is interesting that a day after Memorial Day, in which we as a nation honor those heroes who gave their lives for this nation, I have to discuss a man who is responsible for the deaths of many of these men because of his mouth. His words are causing anger in the Arab street and are turning the people against our troops. And when he says we can not win in Iraq, he is encouraging our enemies to kill even more American soldiers. I am not even going to reprint what he had to say. Before anyone questions my patriotism, let me say that I too am a veteran having proudly served my country. Murtha has the right to speak out on how this war is conducted, but his status as a former general does not give him any more status to speak out than any one else.
But I will say this to John Murtha. You are an American disgrace. I am ashamed to call you a fellow veteran. You wrap yourself in the American flag and denounce our troops. Your words are killing our soldiers. It is not patriotic to denounce the United States. It is not patriotic to have your words blasting our country and our troops pasted on every Islamic newspaper who hate us. It is not patriotic to embolden our enemies. And it is especially not patriotic to have the blood of our American soldiers on your hands.
I rank you up there with Jane Fonda and John Kerry. Why don’t you just go on and denounce your American citizenship and leave the country. As I said before, John Murtha, you were a good general, but you are a failure as a legislator and you are a failure as an American citizen. You are a disgrace.
Update: BlackFive has a post of what John Murtha should say to the American press.

Those Republicans and neocons who wanted an invasion and takeover of Iraq were happy as jaybirds when congressional Democrats backed ruler Bush’s phony and gaudy plan to bring democracy to the cradle of civilization - at any cost. I’m even sure I heard the name Murtha lauded at the time. Today, however, Murtha’s name is associated with mud because he was briefed by military officials on the ‘incident’ at Haditha and has come out of those briefings with the belief that the Marines are quilty, the evidence proves it. Well, now the neocon bloggers are going nuts. Murtha is a disgrace, unpatriotic, he should leave the country and all other kinds of nonsense. These people have wrapped themslves so tightly in the flag that they aren’t getting oxygen to their brains. But we shouldn’t be surprised. They did the same thing when the cry for war was being made. They refused to take a deep breath and evaluate the faulty evidence and hoopla that was flying through the airwaves. Here’s the funny part. The neocons are saying Murtha should wait unril the Marines are tried and found guilty. Gee, now they wanna wait. Where was this call for prudence and examining all the facts before invading a country that could do us no harm. Idiots!!!! Both Murtha, and his detractors are guilty of the same damn thing and they along with Bush and Congress are responsible for the death, destruction, and destablization in Iraq and have stained and soiled the flag with lies, greed, and blood that it will forever be irreparable. Who is unpatriotic?
Sure Murtha voted for the war in Iraq. He had the same intelligence the President had and did the right thing. But now Mr. Murtha sees the President’s dropping poll numbers and decides to do a John Kerry. “I voted for the war before I voted against it.” Pure politics.
As far as Haditha, if Murtha was briefed about the incident then he knows he should NOT be telling what he knows. Under the UCMC, the Uniform Code of Military Justice, you are innocent until proven guilty. To speak out against these soldiers is not only tainting any kind of jury pool, but it may also be tainting the conclusions of the investigators. Murtha in any case should SHUT UP!
And now you want to link me telling Murtha to wait for a complete investigation to the US invading Iraq. I have two words for you: twelve years. We waited for twelve years for Saddam Hussein to comply with the Resolutions from your beloved UN, twelve years. Do you think John Murtha could have waited even one year? Nope. There is a big difference between a few months and a few years and you call me an idiot. Okay!?
I am not going to go over your worthless diatribe concerning Iraq except to say these issues: Saddam refused to follow UN resolutions, he had WMDs, and he harbored terrorists. The country is far more stable now than before, new schools being built, new hospitals, a freely elected government. What else would you want? If you and your kind had been around during WWII, we would have lost. Thank God for people like George W. Bush who is willing to go against the weak-kneed ‘patriots’ and defend this country.
And I still say those who attack our soldiers, befriend our enemies, and undermine the standing of the US around the world are not patriotic. Those whose words kill our troops are not patriotic. Before you speak next time you might start by looking up the word patriotic in the dictionary, then talk.
