Happy Mother’s Day
Today is Mother’s Day. A day we set aside to recognize the contribution of mothers in our society. Is there a difference between a mom and a mother? Almost an woman can have a child, but how she treats this child says much about whether she is a mom or just a mother. When the television camera pans across a group of football players sitting on the sideline, what do they say? Hi, Mom. It is then you can tell these men had more than just a mother, they had a mom. So what makes a mom so special? One of the greatest gifts we can give our children is faith in God. I tell my children that it is my job to give them wings to soar. A bird will eventually leave its nest to explore a strange new world. It is my job as a parent to give my children the wings they need to succeed. Hopefully I will have prepared them giving them wings like eagles. It is necessary for parents to prepare their children how to cope with the outside world, but is more important that the foundation of these wings that I have given them stem from the right source; God.
