Is John Gibson a Racist?

How can someone take a simple commentary from the Fox News Channel and turn it into a racist diatribe? This could only happen at the Media Matters and the Huffington Post.

From the May 11 edition of Fox News’ The Big Story with John Gibson:

GIBSON: Now, it’s time for “My Word.” Do your duty. Make more babies. That’s a lesson drawn out of two interesting stories over the last couple of days.

First, a story yesterday that half of the kids in this country under five years old are minorities. By far, the greatest number are Hispanic. You know what that means? Twenty-five years and the majority of the population is Hispanic. Why is that? Well, Hispanics are having more kids than others. Notably, the ones Hispanics call “gabachos” — white people — are having fewer.

Now, in this country, European ancestry people, white people, are having kids at the rate that does sustain the population. It grows a bit. That compares to Europe where the birth rate is in the negative zone. They are not having enough babies to sustain their population. Consequently, they are inviting in more and more immigrants every year to take care of things and those immigrants are having way more babies than the native population, hence Eurabia.

Why aren’t they having babies? Because babies get in the way of a prosperous and comfortable modern life. Peanut butter fingerprints on the leather seats in the BMW. The Euros are particular — in particular can’t be bothered with kids. Underscore that second point.

A second story, today, reports that [Russian President] Vladimir Putin is so concerned about the declining and imploding population of Russia, he is paying couples to have babies. Imagine, procreating for cash in Mother Russia. Putin has taken this step because at the rate things are going, Russia will lose close to 45 million in population in the next 45 years. Russia will be two thirds of today’s population.

This is not a good trend for Russia and it won’t be here either if that should happen. To put it bluntly, we need more babies. Forget about that zero population growth stuff that my poor generation was misled on. Why is this important? Because civilizations need population to survive. So far, we are doing our part here in America but Hispanics can’t carry the whole load. The rest of you, get busy. Make babies, or put another way — a slogan for our times: “procreation not recreation.” That’s “My Word.”

Sounds good so far, right? John Gibson in his usual glib style says that for civilizations to survive, countries need their citizens to make babies. This is one of those commentaries where if you want to read something into it, you will. Media Matters is very well known for their twisting of both comments and the facts. Listen to what they have to say on Gibson’s My Word.

On the May 11 edition of Fox News’ The Big Story, host John Gibson advised viewers during the “My Word” segment of his program to “[d]o your duty. Make more babies.” He then cited a May 10 article, which reported that nearly half of all children under the age of five in the United States are minorities. Gibson added: “By far, the greatest number [of children under five] are Hispanic. You know what that means? Twenty-five years and the majority of the population is Hispanic.” Gibson later claimed: “To put it bluntly, we need more babies.” Then, referring to Russia’s projected decline in population, Gibson claimed: “So far, we are doing our part here in America but Hispanics can’t carry the whole load. The rest of you, get busy. Make babies, or put another way — a slogan for our times: ‘procreation not recreation’.”

If you do what Media Matters did and join together two different quotes from different areas of the same commentary, then perhaps, you can come to the conclusion they did.

Every once in a while conservatives have to read what the left is saying in order to combat them.

$13 Billion in Pork Added to Emergency Spending Bill For Iraq War

Let’s face it, Congress is addicted to spending as much as any addict is hooked on crack cocaine.  They took a $95 billion emergency spending bill earmarked for the war in Iraq and added on another $13 billion in pork.  Diane Feinstein and Barbara Boxer of California are some of the worst offenders of loading pork on bills.  President Bush has said he will veto this spending bill because of the additional earmarks.  Look at this story by the San Francisco Chronicle.

Feinstein voted to throw some $200 million at giant defense contractor Northrop Grumman for Katrina-related losses insurers would not reimburse. She also voted for a $700 million earmark to bankroll the rebuilding of a Mississippi rail line — that had already been rebuilt after Katrina.

Last year, Feinstein voted against a Coburn bid to reallocate $452 million in transportation earmarks — including the infamous Alaskan “Bridge to Nowhere” — so that the money could be used for Katrina relief. She also voted to protect a $950,000 parking garage in Oklahoma and a $500,000 sculpture park in Seattle. Feinstein at least did vote to cut the $15 million seafood pork.

Citizens Against Government Waste notes that California has $733 million in pork in the 2006 budget includeing $3.6 million for ‘grape research.’

I really enjoyed the last part of the article.

Blame Bush for not vetoing a spending bill before. Blame GOP leaders for abandoning their principles and burning through tax dollars. But also, blame Boxer and DiFi — who is spending like a drunken sailor while facing re-election — for figuring, they’ll scratch Alaska’s back, so Alaska will throw scratch back.

After all, it’s not their money.

Texas School Finance System Overhaul Near Completion

Texas is finally on the verge of overhauling the school finance system beating a court ordered deadline by days.  A judge ruled three years ago that the Texas school finance system was unconstitutional.  Ever since then the state has been attempting to not only fix the plan, but give property owners a break on the taxes they pay.  Proponents of the new plan say the plan is the largest tax cut in the state’s history while critics complain that it is the larges tax increase.  Either way, taxes will go down on property owners and up on smokers, some businesses, and used car sales.

A record property tax cut – the centerpiece of a sweeping plan to avoid a court-ordered shutdown of Texas public schools – won final approval Friday and was sent to Gov. Rick Perry for his expected signature.

The legislation would cut school property taxes by a third over the next two years under a massive tax swap that would replace the billions of dollars in lost revenue with higher taxes on businesses and smokers, along with a big piece of the state’s budget surplus.

And it includes several education initiatives, such as a $2,000 raise for teachers, more money for high schools and a new incentive pay program for teachers.

All I can say is that is about time lawmakers got their acts together for the good of Texas property owners.  For several year, either the tax rate went up, appraisals went up or both.  Finally property owners may be catching a break.

According to Capitol Annex’s Press Room, the bill includes several other incentives to schools to raise test scores and graduation rates.

In addition to the largest local property tax cut in our state’s history, the bill provides new teacher compensation and incentive pay in excess of $2000; bolsters college readiness by requiring four years of math, science, English and social studies beginning with the freshman class of 2007 and adds new writing requirements to the high school curriculum.  The legislation calls for more transparency of school district expenditures, encourages increased graduation rates by offering intervention programs and flexible instruction hours for at-risk students and increases participation in school board elections.  Commencing this school year, the bill provides school districts with an additional $275 per high school student.  Commencing in the fall of 2007, the legislation calls for a uniform school start date of the fourth Monday in August.

Iraq Taking Control of Their Own Country

Why isn’t this news making it into the MSM?  Could it be that it does not fit into the mold they have for Iraq where American troops have to take the lead in every operation?

Iraqi Police killed two terrorists when the two men attacked a police patrol in Tal Afar May 11.

The Iraqi police after searching the building found and destroyed weapons, munitions, IEDs, mortars, and grenades.  During the attack three Iraqi police officers were wounded.

It is only a matter of time before Iraq is ready to take the lead in all such operations.  The war is going well and I would say it may even be in the wrap-up stage.

Bush’s Approval Rating Hits New Low

The New York Times is once again celebrating the President Bush’s low approval ratings.  Adam Nagourney and Megan Thee note some of the reasons for the low poll numbers include the war in Iraq, illegal immigration, high gasoline prices and the economy.  Considering the doom and gloom that the MSM is pedaling these days, it is no wonder the American public dislikes the President’s handling of the war in Iraq.

The public’s view of the economy is a different matter.  The nation’s economy grew at a healthy 4.8 percent in the first quarter, two million jobs were created over the last twelve months, and personal incomes increased by a half of a percent in March.  The only reason the public would think the economy was faltering is the media who consistently portray the nation’s economy as in shambles.  I think the MSM is trying to influence public opinion.

The American public’s view of how George Bush is handling the high price of gas shows the nation is confused on who has control over the price at the pump.  It shows the nation is does not understand the idea of supply and demand.  The President has as much control over the price of gas as he does the price of bread, meaning Bush has no control over the cost of either.  If there were a bread shortage tomorrow, the price of bread would go up and the MSM would, of course, blame the President.

One area of concern on which the President can be blamed is illegal immigration.  The nation’s porous borders allow undocumented people to flood the United States.  Until both Congress and the President gain control of our borders, they will receive poor poll marks.  By the way, while the President’s numbers are low, the approval rating of Congress is even lower at 23%.

There is some concern on my part on some of the numbers portrayed in the poll.  It leads to one of two conclusions, either the poll is dead wrong with a weighted tilt in favor of Democrats, or the American people do not follow what is going on in the world.  Right-Wing Muchrakers says the polls are terribly wrong and almost laughable.

Yes, that’s right: There are 12% more Democrats and 9% more independents than Republicans being polled. By all standards, this is over-sampled.

If that is the case, then it shows the MSM is definitely trying to influence public opinion.  On the other hand, the same poll shows the respondents do not have a clue what is going on in the world.  Take the following for example:

Americans said Democrats would do a better job dealing with Iraq, gasoline prices, immigration, taxes, prescription drug prices and civil liberties.

By better than two to one, Democrats were seen as having more new ideas than Republicans.

The Democrats response to Iraq when asked is to cut-and-run, which is the worst possible thing the United States could to this fledgling democracy in the Middle East.  Leaving Iraq is also the worst possible thing we could do for our security.  Bill Clinton tried cutting and running, and look where it got us, attack after attack.

There is nothing the Democrats can do to lower gas prices other than to tax big oil which would lead to even higher gas prices.  The only thing that would lead to lower gas prices is more oil.  But the Democrats have blocked every effort to find more.  They have blocked drilling in ANWR, the Gulf (except Louisiana), the East and West coasts.  So how are the Dems going to lower gas prices.

On immigration, the Democrats have consistently blocked any effort by the Republicans to protect our borders.  They even want to allow Mexican criminals to enter the United States.  The Democrats have no plan on immigration.

And will the Democrats ever fix taxes.  You can be sure taxes will on only be higher if the Dems win in Congress, but they will be much higher.  With more tax revenue, they will also spend more.

Since when have the Democratic Party had a plan for anything.  Over the last several months, their only idea they have is everything bad is Bush’s fault.  That is no plan.  Doom and gloom, whining and complaining will solve nothing.  The only party with any semblance of a plan is the Republican Party.

Interestingly, both John Kerry and Al Gore have lower approval ratings than George Bush, with 26% and 28 % respectively.  I guess it goes to show that not every Democrat is being helped by Bush’s low poll numbers.
