No Credit for Decider-in-Chief
I guess I should have copyrighted the name “Decider-in-Chief.” Here is just a sample of sites that quote the name but do not give credit to where they got it. Of course I would be negligent to suggest all sites took liberties with taking the name, Hugh Hewitt is an exception. Note that this is a google search with only the first three pages printed. I tried to see how many times it was mentioned but stopped at 400.
The post that started it all.

No offense, but I didn’t give you credit because I didn’t get it from you, having never heard of this blog before I saw the ping from this post on my site. It’s a rather obvious joke after Bush’s declaration of “I’m the decider,” and it’s no surprise that many people came up with it on their own.
No offense taken. I was just surprized when I Googled Decider-in-Chief and found all of those websites mentioning the post. When I googled the name at the time I wrote the post there was no listings. Once I published the post, my hits jumped by 100% when my post was mentioned on Hugh Hewitt’s site. Some sites mention Hugh, though none mention mine. And you might be right, many may have come up with the name at the same time.
I thought it up too … c’mon, are you that guy that invented the Internet?
Uh, I have to second what Jesse said. I’d never even heard of this site until someone emailed me the link to this post, and I don’t read HH. I guess that’s what happens when everyone makes the obvious joke.
Decider-in-chief is such an obvious and logical pun after Bush’s unhinged statement that I expect hundreds, if not thousands, thought of it independently of you. You would have a legitimate complaint if it were truly unusual and unique, but it’s pretty standard fare.
Your archives indicate you pretty much started blogging. You’ll quickly learn that there are massively creative people blogging and a ton of them are going to think of something at the same time that you do, if not before.
It’s just the way it goes in the blogosphere!
Blue girl is right, I did just start blogging. One thing I have learned is to think before writing. It is hard to take back. My apologies to all I offended.
One of the humbling lessons of the ol’ blogosphere is discovering that joke/thought/idea you had in response to something Bush said or did, that one you thought was oh-so clever, so interesting, so unique, well– it wasn’t. About a 10000 other people thought it too and at least 100 wrote it down, either as a post or in comments somewhere.
In other words, people aren’t copying you when they come up with the same (not so original) nickname.
Get over thyself.
I didn’t even say “decider-in-chief” in my post. I quoted W saying he’s the decider and pointed out that “decider” isn’t a word. So Google may not be quite accurate in this case.
