On Vacation

Blogging is going to be sparse this weekend, since I am on vacation with my family.  Will try to post when I can.

Moonbats on Parade

These protesters obviously did not see the movie Flight 93.  Who in their right mind could possibly believe George Bush is more evil that the one responsible for the deaths of 3000 American citizens.  These people are really out in La-La Land.

Hat Tip to Michelle Malkin

Flight 93

United 93 opened yesterday in theaters nationwide.  Truth be told, this is one of those movies I am not sure I want to see, like the Passion of the Christ.  I know what happened, the heroes died, and a nation was saved.  There are other good movies where the hero dies, but none with the implications of this one.  These people are TRUE HEROES.  And so for me, it is a must see movie.  Not for any macabre reasons, but because these died to save our nation’s capitol.

I searched on Yahoo Movies for what the movie viewers were saying.  Yahoo says the average movie viewer gave the movie a B+, but after viewing about a hundred reviews, ninety-five percent gave Flight 93 at least an A-.  They used phrases like: awesome, an amazing movie, united we stand, we need to remember, what an incredible movie, and Best Movie of the Year.  So it is obviously a movie worth seeing.

I agree with David Benzion at the Lone Star Times view of the these heroes.  The passengers on Flight 93 fired the first shots in the Global War on Terror.  It is up to the rest of us never to forget their sacrifice.

Frankly, I think every passenger and crew-member on United 93 should be awarded the Congressional Medal of Honor.  To me it is a travesty that more has not been done, officially and otherwise, to honor this first group of individuals to report and fight in what has been termed “The Global War on Terror”.  They were the “United 93 Militia”.  They reported for duty and fought heroically and honorably. They did so faster than any of us were able comprehend the events of that day, let alone get into the action. They utilized their wits, bodies and whatever object they could fashion into weapons.

So this is a movie I will go and watch, not just for its entertainment value nor just for its informational value.  I will see this movie for these heroes, for the family of these heroes, for me, and for my family.  May we never forget what these people on this doomed flight did for the rest of us.

Update:  My wife and I went to see Flight 93 tonight.  It was awesome, if you can call a movie like this awesome.  During most of the movie and afterwards, you could here a pin drop.  There are three overall feelings I got from the movie.  First is the fact that these terrorists are fanatical wackos who can not be reasoned with.  Second, is the fact that these were ordinary passengers, who felt like they had no option, and as a result, became heroes.  And third, George Bush was right in going after these terrorists and the countries that harbor them.  Again, it was an awesome movie.  It is a must see for all Americans who want to know why we are fighting the Global War on Terror.

Rush Limbaugh Saga Comes to an End

What a waste of money.  The partisan Democratic Palm Beach county prosecutor has been investigating Rush Limbaugh for two and a half years of doctor shopping for OxyContin.  The case first came to light in 2003 when Limbaugh’s former housekeeper reported to the National Inquirer about his problem.  Afterwards Rush entered a drug rehab center to lessen his dependence on painkillers.  From family experience I can say that OxyContin, Hydrocodone, Vicodin, Lortab, and Lorcet are extremely addicting and require help getting off their addiction.

During this time the prosecutor has released so much information both true and false about the investigation.  He had absconded the medical records of Limbaugh under questionable circumstances, especially considering doctor-patient privilege.  And now according to Fox News the two sides have finally come to an agreement.  Rush pleads Not Guilty and for the next 18 months he will have to continue to see his doctor on a regular basis.  If he does, the charges will be dropped.  And this is the kicker, Rush has to pay back the state $30,000 to pay for the partisan investigation.  Just remember, nothing was proven.  In all likelihood, nothing would have ever been proven.  This was pure partisanship, pure and simple.

I believe Rush was just ready to put this entire episode behind him.  And that is perfectly understandable.  But I am really getting tired of these partisan prosecutors using the law to take down those who disagree with them.  The charges against Tom Delay by Travis County Ronnie Earl comes to mind.  With all the people who really are doctor shopping, they go after the high profile case because Rush Limbaugh is a Republican.

The liberals will stop at nothing to shut up those they dislike, especially people like Rush.  Only thing is Rush will still be broadcasting on the EIB microphone for years to come in spite of this partisan Democrat’s best efforts.

One thing you be sure of, the liberal press and bloggers will be all over this.

Mexico Openly Supporting Immigration Protests

Who would have thought it?  Mexico is in open support of the immigrant protests in the US scheduled for May 1st called, “A Day Without Immigrants.”

Don’t believe it?  Take a look at the report by CNN in which Mexican “lawmakers issued a declaration of support for immigrant protests planned in the United States on Monday and said they will send a delegation to Los Angeles to show their solidarity.”  How many times has Mexico accused the United States of interfering in their internal affairs?  And now they are doing to us what they have been accusing us of doing.
Then Mexico’s Federal Deputy Maria Garcia made this idiotic statement.

“The only thing we are looking for is to end this dehumanizing situation and get the recognition of the migrant labor force.” “People who go looking for work should not be treated like criminals with the risk of being tried in federal courts.”

If the illegal immigrants do not want to be treated like criminals, then obey our laws, pure and simple, straight to the point.  This country is a nation of laws.  People who break the law should expect to be arrested.  They are criminals!
Immigrant protest organizers say they are trying to enable the US to see how much these immigrants are needed in the world’s largest economy.  But according to other things they are saying, it appears to me they have other intentions.  The protestors say they want the US economy to show a dip to show how much we need Mexican labor.  And of course to make sure a dip happens, activists are planning on blocking all traffic in and out of the major cities.  That way a dip in the economy is sure to occur and that is what these organizers will point to.  Talk about loading the evidence.

“There will be 2 to 3 million people hitting the streets in Los Angeles alone. We’re going to close down Los Angeles, Chicago, New York, Tucson, Phoenix, Fresno,” said Jorge Rodriguez, a union official who helped organize earlier rallies credited with rattling Congress as it weighs the issue.
They also want something that we can not give them: instant amnesty for all immigrants living and working here.
“We want full amnesty, full legalization for anybody who is here (illegally),” Rodriguez said. “That is the message that is going to be played out across the country on May 1.”

Many businesses are feeling the heat and instead of meeting the problem head-on, they are closing their doors instead.  Locally Sanderson Farms, like my of the poultry industry, has a large immigrant workforce.  The company has decided to work on Saturday and then close on Monday to avoid a confrontation that would require them under their own rules to fire many of their workers.  Sanderson Farms has NO Balls.
How about putting the shoe on the other foot?  How many rights do immigrants have living in Mexico?  Even legal immigrants are tossed out of the country for protesting.  Now, let me get this straight.  Mexico, a corrupt third world country, who can not take care of their own citizens, is openly encouraging their citizens to illegally enter the US, to engage in protests for rights they are not entitled to, and then send any extra money they earn back home to support Mexico’s failed economy.  No wonder they are a failure as a country.
It was only a few days ago when I thought stuff was really going to hit the fan when these workers, who were planning on walking off their jobs, would try to go back to work the next day.  I expected thousands of illegal immigrants to lose their jobs for not showing up at work.  I also expected Vicente’ Fox to call on George Bush to intercede on the behalf of these protestors to get their jobs back.  Now it looks like the business and schools are all caving in to the protesters.  Michelle Malkin has a post where some schools in California have written a one page letter to teachers encouraging students to join in the protest marches with a one line caveat that it would be better for the students to go to school instead.  Right?!  After a one page letter encouraging the protests, you really expect them to stay in school after one line asking them to.
If this is the way these protesters are going to act: blocking traffic, skipping school, trying to hurt the US economy, flying the US flag below the Mexican flag, writing and changing the words to the Star-Spangled Banner in Spanish, among other things.  Maybe we should try to send them back to Mexico.  The Mexican government is having a hard time keeping afloat now, think how it will be if they have another 12 million people to take care of.  That way the Mexican politicians might not be in such a hurry to encourage protests in the United States.
Others writing about the protests on May 1st.
Ace of Spades who states:

Seriously– shut the cities down. Have fun. Because within a month, your asses will be booted nice and high over the Rio F’n’ Grande.

Corruption Chronicles who informs us that:

Lawmakers in the Golden State recently passed a resolution named Great American Boycott 2006, leading one political blog to to write about how shocking it is that many California legislators frequently act more like their Mexican counterparts.

Deliriously Normal who states:

I’m going to try and be as blunt as possible. The whole issue revolves around everyone understanding this one point. We have immigration laws in this country. If you violate them, you are here illegally. It’s really that simple. There is no racist intent here, I don’t care if you come from Mexico or Sweden, if you don’t come here legally, you’re not supposed to be here, and should be made to leave until you want to come back and do things the right way.
I could not agree more!  Technorati is full of posts from blogs just like these all saying the same thing.  These people are here illegally.  When is the US finally going to enforce our immigration laws and protect the integrity of this country?

Price Gouging at the Gas Pump

I like Thomas Sowell.  He is straight to point and does not seem to have time to put up with nonsense.  He is one of the few who seem to understand the issue of the high gas prices.  Debra Saunders on the other hand, writing for the San Francisco Chronicle, bemoans the fact that oil companies are making too much money.

Bush picked up congressional leaders’ call for an FTC investigation into gouging. (Like that will help.) He also called on Congress to revoke tax breaks for Big Oil to the tune of $2 billion over 10 years — when Americans know that if Bush were serious, he would have called oil company executives into the White House and told them to cut prices — or lose the tax breaks tomorrow.

But Sowell goes straight to the point about why gas prices are so high.

Is it rocket science that, when oil prices hit new highs, gasoline prices also hit new highs? Do you think the price of wheat could double without the price of bread going up? Would we have politicians running around spouting off about “gouging” by Big Wheat?

Is it rocket science that, when huge countries like India and China have rapidly growing economies, their demand for oil goes up by leaps and bounds? Is it rocket science that, when demand shoots up but supply doesn’t go up as much, prices rise?

It is all politics.  People are complaining because gas prices are so high.  It is one of the few things people buy all by itself.  The price of gas can be seen as people fill their cars.  If consumers had to go to one store and buy sugar and another to buy bread, then they would be complaining about those prices.  When consumers complain, politicians listen, especially when their future employment might hinge on how they respond to the growing clamor to ‘do something.’

Something should have already been done.  Drilling in ANWR when the issue was first brought up would have gone a long way towards shoring up some of our oil supplies.  These same people do not want any more refineries built.  They do not want any more drilling done in the US.  They do want more renewable energy sources built like the wind turbines, but they do not want them my backyard (i.e. Senator Kennedy D-MA).

And now the Republicans have decided to join the chorus of angry (fake) Democrats who are demanding an investigation into price gouging by the oil companies.  As it is now, the oil companies are making approximately nine cents a gallon on gas sold in the US.  Where is the gouging there?

Conversely, the federal and state governments are making between thirty-five and sixty cents per gallon.  I think you could call that price gouging.  The gas tax is what needs to be reduced which would lower prices at the pump.  Right now the President is being blamed for something he can not control.  He is even blamed for the tax breaks the oil companies receive.  Even though the President signed the bill, it was a bipartisan Congress who gave the tax breaks.

Quote of the Day

Quote of the Day from the Kos kids.  Apparently the ultra-liberal Sierra Club is sponsoring Lincoln Chaffee, R-RI.  (To me that is scarey.  In the South, an endorsement by the Sierra Club would signal a death knell for any candidate.) When asked why, the Sierra Club responded that Chaffee scored 100% on environmental issues.  Then this statement is added.

I wish conservative issue groups were this stupid. And I wish ours were as smart as theirs.

Democrats Have A Culture of Corruption Problem

It is a well known and established fact that Wikipedia, the online encyclopedia, has its flaws and is sometimes incorrect.  The problem is anyone can make a correction to the site.  Wikipedia has been used by politicians in the past to either bolster their own credentials or slam their opponents.

Enter the gubernatorial Democratic primary election in Georgia.  The winner of this election will face off against Republican Sonny Purdue, the current governor.  According to CNN the campaign manager for candidate Cathy Cox, Morton Brilliant, added an entry into the online encyclopedia about the family of her opponent, Lt. Governor Mark Taylor.

“Taylor’s son Fletcher recently was involved in an alcohol-related car accident. The passenger in his car, whom Fletcher identified as his best friend, was killed. Currently, Fletcher is in an alcohol treatment facility awaiting trial.”

Cox has repeatedly indicated to her staff that the family of her opponents is off limits.  Brilliant on the other hand has resigned his position in the wake of this current flap.

But what I want to know is why it always seems to be the Democrats who use these kinds of shenanigans.

Remember this:

A former Democratic operative will plead guilty to a federal charge of illegally obtaining Maryland Lt. Gov. Michael S. Steele’s credit report, the woman’s attorney said yesterday.

She was part of Charles Schumer’s DSCC who was trying to find some dirt on Steele.  This operative had to steal Steele’s SSN# and then illegally obtain the report.  They will stop at nothing to win an election. Hat tip to Delmarva Dealings

Remember how in each election the Democrats sue to keep the polls open longer.  I guess that way, they can slash more tires of the Republican vans bringing people to the polls while having road worthy vans themselves to carry their supporters to the polls. (Hat tip to Culture of Corruption)

Remember how Al Gore went to the Courts to try to win the election in 2000.  And even went so far as to disallow votes from our men and women in uniform who are protecting, fighting and dying for us, just because the military does not always place a stamp on their mail.

According to the New York Times there was voter intimidation at the Republican National Convention in New York in 2004.  (The article can found here)

The Justice Department has opened a criminal investigation and is demanding records regarding Internet postings by critics of the Bush administration that list the names of Republican delegates and urge protesters to give them an unwelcome reception in New York City.
Federal prosecutors said in a grand jury subpoena that the information was needed as part of an investigation into possible voter intimidation.

Remember the bait-and-switch of Jean Carnahan in Missouri with her deceased husband in the election of 2000 and Frank Lautenberg in New Jersey after Robert Torricelli resigned after a corruption scandal.  Hat tip to Cynical Nation.

The problem is that I could go on and on and on. The Democrats talk about a “Culture of Corruption” in the Republican ranks, but I think they should look at home first.  Even now the Democrats have their own problem with Alan Mollohan. (Hat tip to EyeHackerBlog)

And who can ever forget the scandal ridden Clinton administration where there was one REAL scandal after another.  And I will not even attempt to list those.

Then there is the story of Alan Mollohan the top Democrat on the House Ethic Committee who had to step down because of his scandel.

The top Democrat on the House ethics committee, Alan Mollohan, will leave the panel _ at least temporarily while he defends his own financial conduct, Democratic leader Nancy Pelosi said Friday.

Mollohan’s decision comes in an election year when his party is accusing majority Republicans of allowing a “culture of corruption” in Congress.

The Wall Street Journal reported two weeks ago that Mollohan steered millions of dollars to nonprofit groups in his district _ with much of the money going to organizations run by people who contribute to the lawmaker’s campaigns.

So the Republicans are not the only ones with a problem.  Political corruption has always been with us. Splinter’s Blog has a good rundown on why we have so much scandal in Congress and why it runs so deep.

Congress has always been corrupted by the almighty Dollar. Those that have loads of money to spend on paid lobbyists tend to get their way when there’s legislation that’s favorable to their clients’ interest at the expense of others.

The Founding Fathers wanted a transparant government due to what His Majesty, George VI, put them through when petitions being turned away and our complaints being turned aside until we couldn’t take it anymore. One of the things that they guarenteed Americans is that if we needed to petition for a redress of grievances, that, we’d be heard. This was supposed to level the playing field to some extant.

The point is that the Democrats are just pointing fingers and hoping some of their mud throwing will stick.  And I have to give them credit.  The Dems are doing a good job of deflecting much of the public’s attention on to the Republican Party.  Of course the Democrats also have a willing accomplices in the MSM who report on every hiccup of the Republicans.  If only they were as willing to treat both sides of the political spectrum equally.  Maybe that is too much to ask.

The Wikipedia scandal is just one more to stack on all the other scandels shared by the corrupt Democratic Party.  The Dems will point out Tom Delay, money laundering, and George Bush, he lied, but both are false.  The charges against Delay were brought about by a partisan hack in Travis County prosecutor, Ronnie Earl.  After a two year investigation and numerous leaks to the media, this is all he could come up with?  And President Bush did not lie any more than President Clinton or the members of Congress lied.  This is nothing more than partisan politics.  The Democrats on the other hand have REAL scandals.  (For more of the Democrats scandals go to The Culture of Corruption)

Pelosi Speaks Out Against the President

I knew that Nancy Pelosi was out there in left field, but I didn’t know she was this far out.  This speech courtesy of Kos.  See if you can see the connections she makes, I can’t.

If you want to reduce our dependence on foreign oil and therefore improve our national security situation, you can’t do it if you’re a republican because you are too wedded to the oil companies.

Huh?

How dare the president of the united states make a speech today in april many, many, many months after the american people have had to undergo the cost of home heating oil? A woman told me she almost fainted when she received her home heating bill over this winter. And when so many people making the minimum wage, which hasn’t been raised in eight years, which has a very low purchasing power, have to go out and buy gasoline at these prices?

The Democrats had chance to chance to help out the American people.  Look at what they will not do.  They will not allow drilling in ANWR, on the Pacific coast, on the Atlantic coast, and in the gulf.  Where else is left?  They block any new refineries being built.  They block any new nuclear power plants from being built.  The Dems block every attempt at energy independence!  I think I understand their plan now.  Block everything that may help the American people and then blame the Republicans.

On a separate topic, note how Kos did not capitalize United States, Mr. President, American, and Republican, but they did capitalize Democrats, Democrats, and Pelosi.  Makes you wonder.

Doctors Want to Kill Patient in Houston Hospital

A little of one year ago, a woman in Florida, named Terri Schiavo had her feeding tube removed allowing her to die.  Her husband, Michael, said that it was Terri’s wish not to be kept alive through machines.  She had been declared to be in a vegetative state so Michael had the feeding tube was removed and Terri died on March 31, 2005.  Mrs. Schiavo had a feeding tube feeding tube for 15 years before she died.

Fast forward a year and now we have Andrea Clarke who is in St. Luke’s Episcopal Hospital in Houston.  Apparently Ms. Clarke had a heart operation, but because of complications and bed sores, the doctors placed her in coma.  Unlike Terri Schiavo, Andrea had expressed a will to live.  Now the doctors want to pull the plug even though she would come out of the coma if taken off of medication.  This is a really weird situation.  Andrea has insurance and so paying for the stay is not a problem.  Nevertheless, the doctors have given the family ten days to work out other arrangements.  How this can happen in the great state of Texas is beyond me.  The family is desperate and they really needs your prayers.
