Just the facts, Ma’am! Tell it like it is

John Leo writing in his blog for US News & World Report laments the actions of those reporters who seem incapible of just reporting the news.

ABC correspondent Claire Shipman, on the George Stephanopoulos show Sunday, ventured the thought that the White House may have been right on the Dubai ports issue, “but through sheer incompetence, flat-footedness, and arrogance managed to not only harm themselves but turn this into an issue that could be harmful for the country in the longer run.”

I think she’s right about that, but it’s not her call to characterize Bush and the White House that way. She’s a reporter. She’s paid to tell us what happened and why, not what she thinks of the Bushies. The more reporters lapse into opinion, the less credible their reports become.

The MSM have been reporting opinions as facts for so long they seem incapible of telling the difference.  If the reporters would just stick with the facts, we will make up our own minds.  You don’t have to tell us what to think.  With the facts I had come to the same conclusion: the Bush administration bungled this issue with the UAE port control issue.

And for the record, I believe the whole port issue clammer is a non-issue.  It only became an issue to those with a political axe to grind.
